Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

localy grown? Would that hurt the ecosystem around you?

No, I don't think carbon footprints would be dramatically reduced if all the food we ate was locally grown. While filling out the questionier to figure out my carbon foot print, I knew that I do have lots of locally grown and orgainc foods in my diet. And the final total for my food part in my carbon footprint was still considered normal/ fairly higher than the average amount in my state. In a way, yes it did make my carbon footprint a bit smaller, but not by much. So yes, eating localy grown foods can reduce a carbon foot print, but not dramatically.
