The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.
But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?
In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?
Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?

Climate change is a human caused thing
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/0 … 23908.html here are some reasons we should start taking some action. Climate change is a serious thing that needs to be addressed and only some states are taking action. http://www.davidsuzuki.org/what-you-can … te-change/ here are some ways we can take action. Doing something as small as buying locally grown food and flying less can help. Does any one else have any ideas?
In my results, I saw that flights contributed by an insane amount to my overall carbon footprint, and to lots of other people as well. Even though airplanes are a fast and easy way to travel long distances, but their carbon emissions are astounding. However, a new company called "Airbus" is manufacturing airplanes that use eco-friendly fuel, and the airplanes themselves are actually recyclable! If all planes could do this, travel could be profusely greener. Here is the link to the Airbus website- http://www.airbus.com/innovation/eco-efficiency/
I my results I also saw an insane increase in carbon emissions when flights were involved. I took two flights with a stop in the middle of one and it added a large amount to my carbon footprint. I don't fly very often, in fact, those were my second and third times flying in the 14 years of my life. I imagine how much i am adding to my carbon footprint when I account for product not produced in the US. This is definitely something we need to work for improving.
One thing I noticed based on my results, is that I saw that flights contributed a large amount of carbon emissions. This surprised me a lot because compared to most people that I know, I barely fly. I only took two round-trips last year and that still contributed a lot of carbon emissions. I normally fly once a year sometimes once every two years. If that small amount of flying releasing that much carbon into the world, then I will have to decrease the amount of times I go on vacation.
In my results my flights contributed the most to my carbon emissions. I fly a lot because of soccer and it shocked me to see that the six flights that I had taken within the last year produced a whopping 4590 kg of carbon emissions. I thought about ways to reduce my transportations emissions and found that driving actually produces less carbon emissions then flying does. According to Christine Matthews on About News "Driving would generate about 104 kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2)—a leading greenhouse gas—per typical medium-sized car, regardless of the number of passengers, while flying on a commercial jet would produce some 184 kilograms of CO2 per passenger." Here is the link to this information http://environment.about.com/od/greenli … _drive.htm
Airplanes are necessary or needed to many people however, for work, or sports, or family reasons. Sometimes, the distance is too long for driving. However, trains could be a better alternative for terrestrial travel. They can transport large amounts of people with lower carbon emissions, although they take longer times to travel. However, if people are not in a rush, they should travel by train. If plane travel is necessary, people should try to make their travel as eco friendly as possible. You can do this by taking direct flights, or off-setting your carbon emissions by planting a tree. What other ways could people reduce carbon?
I got some of this information from -

In my results the transportation part of my Carbon Footprint was way above average. I traveled many places this summer, I almost traveled 10,000 kilometers. When you travel this much you let of a lot of carbon emissions and I was thinking about this at the time, but by me traveling and having fun I am affecting everything around me.
Airplanes are necessary and is a transportation device that we need to travel long distances and I agree that if we made an airplane that used eco-friendly fuel the planet would be a better place. If all planes used this type of fuel the air would be less polluted and the climate could change and the acidity in the ocean wouldn't be as bad.
