But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?
In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?

Greenhouse Gases and how it's affecting Global Warming
After reading much about Greenhouse gases and their affects on Global Warming in my Biology class I've done a little bit of research on how much it could be affecting the earth and what gases are taking up the air. According to the epa.gov website 82% of U.S. Greenhouse gas emissions were carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas that is emitted mostly through human activities as said by the epa.gov website. Carbon Dioxide can enter the atmosphere through burning fossil fuels like coal, natural gas, oil and wood products. The next burning Greenhouse emission is methane gas which takes up 9% of the U.S. total Greenhouse emissions. Methane gas is emitted through the transport of natural gas, coal and oil and can also lead to the decay of livestock and organic waste in municipal solid waste landfills as put by the epa. Other gases that take up U.S total Greenhouse emissions are Nitrous Oxide and Fluorinated gases.
All of these gases are a part of leading cause of Climate Change and air pollution, called the Greenhouse affect. Greenhouse affect is caused when emission are released into the air by human activities then trapped by heat reflecting some of the longwave radiation back to the earth's surface as said by the smithsonianeducation.org article.The total amount of emissions in 2012 were 6,526 metric tons of Co2. these gases can end up staying in the earth's atmosphere for an extended amount of time. This can be a main argument to prove that humans are leading cause of Global Warming, Climate Change and Pollution.
