The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.
But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?
In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?
Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?
Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused? >
Climate Change wasn't all our fault
Climate Change was already happening, before mankind was born.In the past, dinosaurs died off from a meteor, making the volcanoes erupt and spread ash around the Earth, causing carbon dioxide emissions. Then there was the Ice Age that was caused by methane and CO2 to expand ice sheets all the way to Missouri. The Sun's energy is used for climate. The greenhouse effect traps enough energy for the Earth to have the average 15*C,rather than having -18*C,so be happy that carbon dioxide is still with us today.
That is true, and I do believe we are currently in a natural warming cycle. Although, the problem we are having today is that human activity might be giving the natural warming cycle a lot of extra momentum, and with this extra momentum the temperature could get higher than it ever has before.
Hi, My name is Paulina!
I agree with you, climate change have existed from a long time ago. Yes we are not totally guilty of it but we are the specie that has been producing more carbon footprint than anyone else. We need to understand it and start helping, we need to find a solution. We should make the best effort to save our world and take care of it for the future generations. We need to add our grain of rice, if everyone do something to change it it will produce a big change.
Humans contribute to climate change. Of course there will be greenhouse gases in the air - we need them to survive on this planet, and they stay in our atmosphere for quite a few years. But we humans are producing such a big abundance of greenhouse gases that our planet is warming too fast and by too much. It is nice that the planet is 15 C, but as it gets warmer, glaciers and ice caps are melting. That results in sea levels rising and land loss. Many bad things can come from too warm of an average global temperature.
I think climate change is a natural cycle that our earth goes through, getting hot and cold just happens but humans have contributed a very large amount to earth warming! I think that many industries/companies are trying to deny that we are contributing so much to the warming of our planet so that they can keep burning coal and harvesting fossil fuels as well as "Growing" massive amounts of cows who all produce large amounts of methane gas which is 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide. We all need to start recognizing that we are contributing to global warming in many many more ways than the three I listed. We need to make a change.
