Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused?

The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.

But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?

In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?

Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?

A reason why Climate Change is false

lgom

I believe that Climate Change is very controversial; however. I do believe that Climate Change is false because it happens gradually and is NOT man made, last winter, Britain had one of it coldest winters. It was almost as cold as Britain in 1963.

shunyaoflaherty

Yeah but acidifying oceans are not fake

luciano-esposito

Did you just break science

shunyaoflaherty

Mind... Blown

fionavobio6

Temperature fluctuation is normal, in a bigger picture, the world is getting hotter

hodin

lgom: one single data point (wintertime temperatures in one location) is not proof.

You have a point of view - that's fine.  You need to cite some studies to back up what you are saying.  That's the scientific method.

On the other side is the fact that the 10 hottest years on record were all in the last 20 years.  In the US, this July and August were both the hottest of those two months ever recorded.

your point of view needs to account for these facts, not simply ignore them or wish them away.

shunyaoflaherty

Passive aggressiveness from the admin. He is slightly triggered

luciano-esposito

I was gonna say that shunya ^

FriedaT

I see your point but there's no way that all the chemicals and waste haven't had a part in climate change

luciano-esposito

Hey whats up guys its scarce here and today we have a new video with a HUGE topic today. So an admin on the Stanford sight is actually TRIGGERED right now. Thats right guys, his name is actually  Jason Hodin and some of you might know him as Jason. He has a HUGE fan base with approximately 0 subscibers and guys I just don't know what to say about this one...

hodin

I do take it seriously, because I think it's the most critical issue facing humans today.  We joke about it and ignore it at our own peril (and the peril of countless humans and non humans).  You can call that passive aggressive - I call it truth.

shunyaoflaherty

well said^

Philip_Lanier

Climate change implies that its not only getting warmer, it implies that places around the world are experiencing temperatures that they do not experience regularly.

cali-lopes

exactly

luciano-esposito

There is good news, we wont live long enough to suffer the worst of the effects of climate change

cali-lopes

but the world is stil mostly geting warmer

FriedaT

its still important for us to make changes because it affects the future of the earth

fionavobio6

Tue, It is getting warmer at a faster rate than ever before

Philip_Lanier

[BostonSnowThumb](//muut.com/u/footprint/s1/:footprint:1xOR:bostonsnowthumb.jpg.jpg)

yeah.... warmer.

shunyaoflaherty

Yeah Earth is pretty cool and everything, but weren't they going to send some people to colonize on Mars? Opinions anyone?

cali-lopes

depends we need money and a government that wont hide stuff they find from its people

luciano-esposito

YES ^

Philip_Lanier

Have you seen "The Martian"? it gone take a while. they livin off potatoes

fionavobio6

Using science for that might be easier than forcing everyone to live a different life
