Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

My total carbon footprint was 29,503 compared to my regions average of 15,918. The majority of my carbon footprint came from transportation because I travel each day to and from school and bring my sisters friend home and her house is on the other side of town. I also traveled a lot this summer, nearly across the country by driving and I flew on a plane twice. I actually was pretty surprised of how much my footprint was just for transportation because its way more than my region and also more than my regions total footprint. I think I could decrease my carbon footprint by finding less ways to travel or healthier ways for the environment to travel while still going everywhere I need to.

We have the same problem with traveling. I need to do the same, and start traveling less.
