Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused?

The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.

But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?

In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?

Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?

Is climate change real and human caused?

Climate change is a big part of our world. Every region or area you will go you will find different weather and styles of living around the crazed climate. People have adapted to climate change in their area, why is that? People don’t usually try to put up with pouring rain and dry heats and the damp humidity. When people cause things or start a trend of something they adapt to it more. For example when you get up and feed your dog and then make coffee, that’s an adaption to a system that works. When people drive or fly in planes or use energy in lights or other systems they are submitting CO2 into the air and the air is adapting to the chemicals and spreading them into the clouds and bodies of water which damages the water cycle. Have people adapted so well to climate change because they created it? When you watch Tv or the news you may notice that the government in America has a disregard for climate change, they don’t believe it is real because they are so adapted to the way the climate and weather is now they don’t know the difference and what politician has time to  sit down and listen to a lecture about climate change from a scientist when there is so many crazy things going on in the world right now. People usually take both sides in this situation, and others in power are scared to bring it up to the politicians in higher power that they’re wrong about these subjects, while regular civilians are out protesting trying to bring it to the government's attention. Other countries see this as problems and cut down to not spread so much CO2, which all countries should be doing.

I definitely think that people's ability to change their lifestyle to fit the weather and situations resulting from climate change has led to less of a focus on how serious climate change is today. Our ability to modify our lives and schedules and appliances to accommodate the changes in climate has caused people to neglect the seriousness of the climate change. It creates a divide between humans and climate change in our minds, making it an abstract concept that doesn't concern us individually because we are able to live our lives in a way that we consider to be normal or comfortable. Once larger groups of people realize that climate change is an issue for the whole world, now and continuing into the future, the chance of finding large scale solutions and making progress towards improving our planet's condition will increase dramatically. Until this time when people realize how big of an issue climate change is and how humans are the cause of the severe climate i ssues now, people need to continue to bring awareness to it and make whatever changes they can in their lives to help the environment.
