Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused?

The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.

But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?

In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?

Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?

Climate Change is entirely real and threatens ecosystems all across the globe. As much as we would like to believe, the atmosphere is not “too big to be affected.” Ever since the increase in CO2 emitting factories and machines, atmospheric CO2 has increased exponentially. This has major real-world consequences.
Venus is an entirely uninhabitable planet. It has surface pressures similar to the pressure you would feel being crushed by a boulder, surface temperature hot enough to melt rock, and has highly corrosive acids in it’s atmosphere. As terrible as that sounds, it’s not far off from what will happen to the Earth if climate change were to continue at the current rate. Venus, surprising as it may sound, used to be a planet much like Earth, with liquid water on it’s surface. However a sudden and rapid increase in atmospheric CO2 led to a runaway greenhouse gas effect, transforming the planet into a burning wasteland. Although the process was likely sped up from it’s close proximity to the sun, it is the exact same process that is happening here on Earth.
Most of the l ead causing factors for climate change on Earth come from human activity. Energy production is a major source of CO2 output, along with deforestation. Currently plant life is the only thing that effectively removes CO2 from the atmosphere. The decrease in plant life from deforestation only speeds up climate change.
