The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.
But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?
In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?
Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?
Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused? >
How the human race may influence climate change
I am convinced that climate change is real and largely human caused because I can see the climate change as the years pass, the climate around me is getting hotter and it is indeed changing. This is caused by humans due to the fact that many in today's society still do not see climate change as a significant issue. We use fossil fuels on a regular basis and do other things to influence climate change daily. If humans become more proactive about the issue of climate change maybe it has a possibility of being decreased. I might change my mind about climate change being caused by humans if things start to improve and we can see that the rate of climate change is decreasing and most of the population is thinking about and changing the way they live in order to slow down climate change. If climate change improves without any human intervention then it is apparent that it is not caused by humans. Clayton, 15 North Carolina
I agree Clayton, I too believe that climate change is real and caused mainly by human activities. I think this because recent data has shown that the climate is warming faster than previously before the Industrial Revolution. After the Industrial Revolution we began to use immense amounts of fossil fuels, contributing to the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Although, some greenhouses gases are naturally found in the environment. Humans have rapidly increased the amount of these greenhouses gases, leading to global climate change. I do not think that the climate issue will fix itself, if we continue our current habits of fossil fuel combustion. Hopefully, as public awareness spreads about climate change more people will be encouraged to change some of their habits in order to reduce their impact on the environment.
