Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

The total of my carbon footprint was 6,870 kgs. This is below the average of North Carolina but above the worldwide average. The majority of my footprint came from food. I was not really surprised at these results besides that more than half of my carbon footprint was food. Otherwise, I was not really surprised because I felt our home is pretty energy efficient compared to the rest of NC but I know we’re all privileged compared to the rest of the world. I feel like to lower my carbon footprint, we could control our eating portions more.

I agree with you I think people should control there eating habits

I agree with you as well. I had about the same averages as you and think that the food is taking a big toll on the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.
