Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon Footprint Results
Emma
From: Mooresville, NC, United States
Age: 14
Total Carbon Footprint: 11,468 kgs
My total was below average for my region but above average worldwide. Majority of my my carbon footprint comes from food. My results were actually surprising, I expected my carbon footprint to be average worldwide yet below my region. I had also expected my purchases to be much higher. Overall, I learned that my carbon footprint was very low for purchases and even low for transportation. To decrease my carbon footprint in the future I can try carpooling more often which would cut down my transportation impact and try to eat more organic and locally grown food resulting in a lower food impact.
I think I will start to eat more organic food to lower my foods category. I think if I eat more organic foods, it'll be healthier on the environment because there wont be any chemicals added to the soil where it is grown.
My carbon footprint was a lot bigger than yours. I think carpooling is a good idea to help reduce your carbon footprint. I need to also eat more locally grown foods to help bring down my footprint.
My footprint is also higher than yours but most of mine is from transportation. I thought that my average would be the same worldwide and lower in my region but mine is higher than both. I will try to walk more and ride bikes to help reduce my carbon footprint.
Your total was lower than mine and I also thought that my purchases would be a lot higher as well
