Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My total footprint is 13931 I got a 7416 in transportation a 1273 in home 4744 in food and a 498 in purchases. My total is lower than the regions carbon footprint. The majority of my footprint is transportation. I think the reason my transportation is so high is because I don’t live very close to my school which I spend a lot of time at. The lowest part of my footprint is purchases because I am 14 so I don’t have  an income so I don’t purchase many things.

I agree with your reason for your transportation being very high. Traveling back and fourth to school does eat up a good portion of my transportation.I also agree that purchases is low because a 14-15 year old don't have an income.

I agree with you transportation was highest for almost everyone and purchases should be low for our age.
