Climate Change: It's All On Us
Humans are the main factor concerning climate change. Scientists that have produced ample evidence that human activity has a direct impact on climate change, but many people are simply unwilling to face the facts. Over the last century and a half, the burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil has increased the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide by 40%. The average american produces 17807 kg of CO2 every year. Due to human influence over the past sixty years the oceans have been warming up and also the average sea level has risen. We have, without a doubt, had a large affect on the environment through pollution and even though the earth will still be around after all the changes we have made, humans and many other species will not.
Many of the people who deny climate change argue that the Earth is simply going through changes not unlike changes that have occurred in past millennia such as ice ages. Those changes occurred due to factors such as changes in the Earth’s orbit. This time around it is different, many changes the Earth is going through can be directly li nked to human activity. Some people might point out the temperature of Earth's surface isn’t drastically changing, one of those reasons is that 90% of the heat trapped by climate change is being contained in the ocean. There have been several attempts to change our situation , but for many people it is too hard to change their way of life, even if it means helping reduce pollution and benefiting the environment .
Yes, humans are indeed the main factor towards the changing of earth's climates and global temperatures. However, I disagree in the sense that "It's All On Us". Studies show that Earth has gone through cold and warm cycles many times, which proves that despite everything we humans are and have been doing wrong, were are not solely to blame. Volcanoes release an ample supply of carbon dioxide (From 65 to 319 million tons per year), which affects the amount of energy kept in the atmosphere a lot.
Even so, you are definitely right about humans. No matter how much CO2 volcanoes produce and release into the atmosphere, humans emit around 100 times *more*. We are releasing too much carbon dioxide, and actions need to be taken in order to prevent our planet's demise.
Thank you for sharing information on global warming. There are many things that we can all do to prevent global warming. We can drive less, buy energy efficient appliances, use the heater or air conditioner less, and much more. Here are some more ideas: http://www.nrdc.org/globalwarming/gsteps.asp
