The greenhouse effect is a phenomenon for which the gases that they find in the atmosphere retain the heat issued by the Earth. This heat comes from the natural solar radiation, but when it bounces on the terrestrial surface he remains caught by the gas barrier. When to still have these gases between soil and atmosphere, without being able to remain liberated to the space, the effect produced to planetary scale is very similar to that of a greenhouse. The greenhouse effect is the principal reason of the global warming.
Reasons of the greenhouse effect The gases responsible for this effect are principally the carbon dioxide and the methane. These gases, together with others, have existed from the origins of the Earth. But his presence in the atmosphere started multiplying during the Industrial Revolution, moment in which the technological advances forced to the use of fossil fuels. From at the time, this dynamics has not made increase any more than,  reaching some more 35 % of carbon dioxide that in the pre-industrial levels.
The almost total dependence of an energetic model based on the coal, the gas and the oil is leading us to a few alterations in the climate of disastrous effects for the life in the planet. The gas emission increases concerning 0,4 % per year and they will continue doing it if we do not modify our supply of energetically. 80 % of the energy that we use in Spain comes from fossil fuels, and almost quite she is imported. If we continue with this trend we will be encouraging an untenable situation and irreversible changes on the climate. We must check our energetic model, bet for the renewable energies and manage better our energetic resources.
Consequences of the greenhouse effect The consequences of the greenhouse effect already are left to see and provoke terrible consequences, especially in the poorest zones of the planet:
Deforestation
Desertification
Floods
Hurricanes, typhoons
Drought
Merger of the polar caps

That is very interesting and I didn't know that greenhouses actually caused global warming in some ways. Does that mean the solar power isn't good for the environment either?
