Climate change is a serious problem that is taking over the world and can have severe consequences if not attended to. First, climate change makes temperatures higher which can disrupt ecosystems and affect all the plants and animals that are a part of that ecosystem. Secondly, the increased temperatures are causing plants to grow in different places. The animals that live in these areas are forced to adapt quickly and scientists predict that by 2050, nearly 1/4 of Earth's species will be on their way to extinction. Next, the climate change is causing oceans and seas to rise. This can be a problem when the water destroys ecosystems that are natural defenses against inland flooding. Finally, the communities living within 50 miles of the coast are put at risk because of rising sea level. The water could displace millions of people living near coasts and on islands barely above sea level. To combat all of these problems, we would need to use forest conservation to lower carbon emissions and fight climate change, research migration routes on how much land is to be covered fo r the animals needing to survive from changing habitats, restore coastal habitats, and restore natural systems in our coasts that help to combat the effects of climate change.
