Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint
In Biology, we were asked to record a few things around our house. Then we were asked to take the Carbon Footprint Challenge. Before any of this, I didn't know much about how or when Carbon Dioxide was released into the air. Also, I didn't really know what carbon dioxide does in the air. After taking the test and doing some activities and worksheets in class, I have a much better understanding of how carbon dioxide affects our world. I also didn't know how much Carbon Dioxide I, myself put into the air.
For me, I thought that I wouldn't contribute much into the air. Little did I know that actually I am above average! I was shocked. I expected to either be average or a little above the average. Since this summer I didn't travel very far my transportation was quite low. Since in my house, we have a lot of lights we use majority of them for quite a few hours per a day. This made my footprint become a lot larger. My food and purchases are around the average for a person in California, USA.
At the start, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this project. At first, I was quite unint erested and bored by it. The more I started to learn and understand about this is when I started taking more interest in it. From this project I learned about how I affect the amount of Carbon Dioxide in the world. I didn't think it made a big difference but I learned now, that it is. After this project, I think I will try to lower the amount of Carbon Dioxide I release because it can make a great affect.
