Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Transportation
Transportation is a tricky subject in a country like ours where everything is so far apart. For example just to get an education you probably need to travel and therefore increasing your carbon footprint. This is a problem we have yet to find a solution to.
Transportation is a tricky topic like you said because usually everything is spread out. I can relate to your example because to get to my college everyday its a 30-minute drive. I don't have an alternative for driving; I can't take public transportation, so no, there isn't a solution for this yet. Hopefully, in the future, there will be a solution to this problem occurring around the world.
I agree that transportation is difficult to work on. Almost all of my extended family lives outside of the country, so to visit them I have to take planes. It increases my carbon footprint a lot, but most of us don't have the option to just take a boat or not visit family, so it is really hard to decrease. Especially since air travel has such a large footprint, there isn't really anything that can offset it in the other categories. Hopefully there will be some alternative to this in the future, but for now I think it's just something that we have to try to offset otherwise.
I agree, transportation is a difficult topic. As for transportation to get to school, carpooling would be beneficial in this aspect if possible. Although public transportation is not always available for everyone, I think focusing a little more on that could be a start. I would love to see more ideas on how to lower emissions, other than carpooling and public transportation put into effect. Another option could be more fuel efficient cars but that can be costly.
