Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

How I lowered my Carbon Footprint.

aedwards15

My carbon footprint was higher than normal. After calculating my carbon output I noticed that my decisions at home and on the road caused me to leave a big impact. To cut down on my carbon footprint I am going to walk to places that are closer to home instead of hopping in my car all the time. I also want to make sure that I plan my trips out wisely and do not take unnecessary detours to waste fuel. My family has already started using more CFL light bulbs and reusing things like containers. We are also turning off all electronics and unplugging them when we are not using them. I use natural light instead of turning on my lights to conserve energy. https://www.carbonfund.org/reduce This website can help you find more ways to lower your carbon footprint.

Hi, Alexis, I totally agree the behavior you did. And I am same with you of the home and road, it also cause my carbon footprint higher. As you said, I think I should do some action to decrease my carbon footprint. I am very appreciate your plan in walking instead of diving the car. I will also try to take the public transportation instead of car. Plus, thank for your website, it might be a good website and I will use it in order to lower my carbon footprint. Hope you have a good evening!

Hey Alexis, I need to learn from you and walk around more. I live in a small town yet my emissions are still rather high. If I didn't drive my car everyday for unnecessary reasons I could really cut down my impact on the environment.

Hi Alexis, you are a great role model and I could learn more from you. I think it's good that your walking more and driving less. Also I think its amazing that your recycling more and using more CFL bulbs. I now understand more ways to help the environment.
