Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Greta Thunberg

Sigyn

Greta Thunberg is a 16-year-old Swedish climate change activist. She did a speech calling world leaders out due to their lack of actions on climate change and said that they shouldn't come to young people for solutions. I think she's doing great things and I hope people listen to her.

We watched the video of her speech in my college class today! I hope people listen to her and begin to take steps forward to make the earth cleaner and consider all types of pollution. Steps need to be taken in order to pass laws to make the earth a cleaner place.

I admire her passion, it amazes me to see the backlash regarding her speech. She did what most people would never have the guts to do. She was not wrong in her presentation of the information. We have all this scientific proven data that shows climate change is REAL, however some politicians and others choose to turn a blind eye to this issue. Its like if they continue to ignore it, the environment will be ok! Good for Greta Thunberg and her passion for what she believes in.

I believe that Greta Thunberg is an inspiring figure of our age. She speaks with logic and reasoning and makes much more sense than some of the politicians currently in office. Her calling for solutions to reduce climate change seem relatively easy to do as individuals, and I think that she is very convincing. I admire her passion for this topic, backed up by scientifically proven data, and urge the adults to take this more seriously.

I too believe Great Thunberg is making great strides in having public figures listen to her. She uses her voice and her sternness to attract audiences young and old. I believe she exemplifies the anger people should feel about our current climate chaos. She is doing a great job! and people are noticing that there are real issues that need to be acknowledged.

I have only seen a few videos of Greta Thunberg, and I think that she definitely deserves the publicity that she is getting. She is only 16 years old, and even if she isn't making new laws herself, I think the fact that she is so invested and devoted to speaking out to those who have the power to make changes is incredibly important. If no one speaks out everyone just assumes that there are no problems but Greta makes it clear that young people all over the world are willing to sacrifice their time to demand attention for climate change.

I've watch her latest speech recently and loved it. It's crazy to think a girl that young could make such an impact as she did. I agreed with every thing she talked and really think her popularity will only grow in the future.
