Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Light Up Your Room!

mimikusa

The Sun already has many uses including providing warmth and helping to sustain life. Did you know that something so simple and so easy can make a big difference not only in your family's electric bill but in your carbon footprint? All you have to do is open up your shades or curtains in your room! From around 7:30-5:30, the light provides a large amount of light in your room so you don't have to turn on any light bulbs! I don't turn on my lights until it gets too hard for me to read. Also, if you keep your doors open it can cause light from the other rooms to come into yours or vice versa.  So before you turn on a light in your room wonder if you can use the sun's renewable energy to light it up with just the move of your curtains.

I agree that people should use more of the sun light up there rooms. I like how you wrote it, it was easy to read and understand. Many people should start opening up their curtains and letting the sun in.

I agree with you using sunlight to light up rooms. I actually do the same thing. That is a good idea to open your door and take in light from other rooms when it is dark.
