Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Student footprint
I never even thought about my footprint until we did this assignment in school. I was shocked when i saw my results, they where higher then i thought but now i will do my best to turn it around. Students all over the globe have a high footprint because in some countries students go to school in a privet car in stead of using public transports or fill each car. Students could also be more active in categories trash. Students could do so much more to make there footprint smaller. We should not just ignore what is going on in the world we should be taking actions to stop climate change and NOW!
I agree with you. No one really knows how much of a negative impact they have on the environment until they actually see these numbers. There are very simple ways to reduce your carbon footprint that people take advantage of. Such as public transportation and carpooling.
I agree with you in that around the world, everyone has fluctuating footprints because of the differing circumstances, for example, as you said, with transportation. To continue with this idea, I agree that it is important for each person or household to note their carbon footprint size, as many people do not realize the little things that they do that actually make a large impact on the environment. For instance, going into the survey, I assumed my footprint would be relatively average, if not somewhat lower. However, I was shocked in finding out that footprint was higher than average in my country. I am interested to see what your carbon footprint levels were in comparison to yours. Numbers and statistics can be very shocking, and sometimes it is this perspective that needs to be seen in order to establish an incentive to change, incorporate alternatives, and reduce our negative environmental impacts.
I agree with you that students in different countries would have a high footprint. It could be in how much you eat or how you travel or even how your daily life is at home. In different countries not everyone do the same things that made up the high footprint, some could travel by bus everyday and doesn't turn off the light before leaving home or some could travel by a private car but always turn off the light before leaving home. Students with high footprint has a role in creating climate change even though it is a really small detailed thing that they wouldn't know but we could stop climate change by just starting from stopping the small detailed thing.
