Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Individual contributions to Climate Change

nessaaaaa

From doing the carbon footprint quiz, I was able to see how much I am contributing to climate change. This was really shocking to see in numbers because I never thought of the effects individuals have on climate change numerically. From my carbon footprint, I was able to see that I am below the average individual's standards from California, but I am above the average person overall (in the U.S and world). My carbon footprint was around 7,405 kgs. This carbon footprint quiz really helped bring to light the areas in which I can individually improve on in terms of worsening climate change. Although it will take more than small, individual lifestyle choices to change the real effects of climate change, individual acts is a good place to start. Hopefully, enough individuals can come together in order to push the government to pass legislation that would start having real change on our environment.
