Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Improving My Use of Household Items

Mag3.14

MWalker-SJR State
Though I do not abuse the heating system in my home, year round, I do, often, take advantage of my cooling system. On average, ten months out of the year, my house is set to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. This is something I take for granted, here in Florida, during the hot months of the yearn article I read, "Reducing Your Carbon Footprint At Home," explained how when warm air leaks into your home you may find a simple solution would be cooling the interior of the home, when you should, instead, pursue "insulating, sealing, and weatherstripping" to improve the air quality in your home (Center For Climate And Energy Solutions). I also, now, see the impact I have on energy, just based on the amount of light fixtures I have, what type they are, and how often they're used on a daily basis. I hope my understanding this, and others understanding this, contributes greatly, in the long run, to the reduction of our, overall, carbon footprint.
