Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Environmentally Conscious Funerals
Modern day funerals have interrupted the process of decomposition and energy transfer from dead bodies back into our environment. Currently, most first-world countries are burying their dead after treating them with formaldehyde and other chemicals to prevent the decomposition to be able to perform an open-casket funeral. Then these bodies are placed into metal boxes with pillows and other accoutrements. The waste from modern funerals are interrupting the energy and nutrient cycle.
Here is a non-profit I've found that works to educate people in how to have their own green funeral. https://www.greenburialcouncil.org/gree … fined.html
I think that reducing unnecessary funeral waste should be a no-brainer, yet people are still being buried in vaults. There are so many new ideas on how to do just that.
