Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

From Wasting to Reducing Water Usage In and Outside of Your Home

amillerSJRState

A handful of people in the United States take advantage of the city water or even well water that they use every day in in the comfort of their own homes. However, U.S. citizens truly do not stop to comprehend how much water is used when they are leave the sink to run as when they brush their teeth. Even more so, an enormous amount of water is wasted on the sprinkling systems used on almost every lawn in a neighborhood. It is unfortunate to identify the myriad of factors that cause an excessive waste of water, but with every problem there is a solution. Although the United States seem to be the most notorious in wasting their precious water, these water saving solutions can apply everywhere.

Some solutions include turning off that faucet when you brush your teeth and even installing a rain capturing device. More solutions can be found on this website: https://www.americanrivers.org/rivers/d … RQQAvD_BwE .
