Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Reducing Your Carbon Footprint

GZelekSJRState

As I went through the carbon footprint survey, I noticed that travel played a huge role in my input of carbon. While doing a lot of traveling to visit relatives, whether it be by plane or driving to the northern states from Florida, my carbon input maintains at a relatively high rate. While this was my highest contributor, there are other smaller factors that, over time, do build up and can become high impacting to the environment. This website identifies a lot of the problems that go into creating a large carbon footprint, and gives helpful environmental tips with alternative usages, transportation, food, and even home energy as well. I found this site to be very informative in an interactive way, as you can choose categories that are geared toward your highest input of carbon.
