Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My carbon footprint was 8,558 which is about the same average of the average person in the world. So for me to live in North Carolina, that is very low. The average carbon foot print for a North Carolinian is 15,918. I think the most of my carbon came from the food I eat and my home. I was kinda surprised that I had such a low average. I for sure thought I was going to get a higher average. I was aseptically surprised with my home because my average carbon footprint for my home is 2,724 and the average carbon footprint for a North Carolinian is 6,148, which is three times the average that I got. I think in the future im going to try to avoid eating so much food with high carbon, and maybe avoid eating less meat since thats where the most carbon comes from.

Mine was very low as well, most of my footprint came from my house, especially with the water. I too will try to conserve as much as I can to lower my footprint.

Most of my footprint came from my home too i think because of how long i take showers and the heater and air conditioning.
Also, I think it is a good idea to eat meals with less meat
