Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Our Footprint

I would say that the four main categories of the topic of our footprint are transportation, home, food, and personal purchases. Being educated not only on the amount of carbon you are emitting into the air within each category, but on the topic of our carbon footprint as a whole. I will say that based off of results from people’s answers, transportation has been leading the way with the highest amount of carbon being emitted into the air compared to the other categories. Not saying to exclude the other categories from the conversation but to take initiative in reducing transportation first then focus on the other categories.
