Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

corona virus

i feel that the corona virus is actually helping with carbon footprints because flights cause a lot of release of carbon. there is also a lot of events being canceled with is reducing the carbon footprint all in general. Jobs are laying people off of work which is reducing work and because of that, less carbon is being admitted into the air. Any thoughts or additions? What is going on around the world in your coutry?

yes i agree with DJRoperz. A lot of things are getting cancelled and people are going in to a panic, but is helping the carbon footprint a lot.

I agree that Coronavirus is helping to decrease our carbon footprint. Kimberly Nicholas, a researcher at the Lund University Center for Sustainability Studies in Sweden let’s us know how we can emit less, “Any time you can avoid getting on a plane, getting in a car or eating animal products, that’s a substantial climate savings.” Coronavirus has caused numerous states of emergency, which means: schools and works getting shut down, barely any airplane flights, and less  driving. That means that Coronavirus, (the human race’s biggest fear right now), has pretty much tackled two of Lund’s big  3!
