Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Climate change

Marton

Climate change is real but what is the main reason behind it ?

sibbi

The cars and the plains are the main reason global warming is so bad because they put so many fumes into the atmosphere and let in solar flares witch heats up the world.

In the coming decades, changing the climate is likely to increase flooding; harm ecosystems; disrupt fishing, agriculture, and winter recreation; and increase some risks to human health".

While cars and planes are reasons for global warming, according to National Geographic, the combustion of fossil fuels in buildings, factories, and power plant are just as bad. These reasons mostly release CO2, which is the main greenhouse gas heating up the Earth. However, other contributors to climate change include Methane from landfills, nitrous oxide from fertilizers, and the loss of forest which would store Co2.
