The big companies need to start showing more social responsibility!

SignyOlof

There are growing discussions in our society about pollution and our footprints on this world. I think there is too much focus on how much the homes are contaminating and we are trying to pollute less. It is very hard when everything we buy is full of plastic packages. For example when we buy candy , the candy is in a plastic bag, inside there is plast around it and then all the candy is in plast inside the plastic. So i think the companies should start finding solutions! I know some companies are on that mission but this has to stop now! What can the companies do? We as consumers need to raise our voice because the companies are depended on us as consumers.

I agree with this statement very much. The amount of plastic waste created by the things we buy is increasing our carbon footprint by a tremendous amount. In the U.S over 14 million tons of plastic are produced each year, created from plastic bags to candy wrappers and much more. To help this problem we should definitely take it to the companies, but we should also take it to our politicians and government to create regulations to help stop this problem. What the companies could do, is use paper wrapping, or recyclable wrapping to reduce the amount of carbon created from their products.

I agree with the statement "the big companies need to start showing more social responsibility." I also agree with the multiple post talking about how plastic affects our environment. However, plastic isn't the only thing that big companies produce that hurt our world. One big industry that is currently destroying our planet is the Palm Oil Industry. Palm Oil is in pretty much everything, from chips to hair products. According to https://www.scientificamerican.com/arti … inforests/, throughout the past years, rainforest in Indonesia have become smaller by almost 50 percent. This is heavily due to the palm oil industry. This hurts many of the rainforest wildlife due to their homes being cut down. For example, the endargered orangatang lives in these rainforests. They depend on the different wildlife in the rainforest and due to the palm oil industries, they are slowly dying because they aren't getting the food and nutrients that they need to live. Also according to Scientific American (sited above), not only are they hurting the wildlife directly, but they are also releasing carbon dioxide into the air. This is a big cause of global warming and we need to put a stop to these big industries burning down the worlds rainforest's for money.
