Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused?

The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.

But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?

In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?

Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?

Climate change is real. Ocean levels over the last decades

Climate change is 100% real and humans play a big role in this phenomenon. One of the main concerns of global warming is that sea levels will rise and engulf islands and coastal cities. The National Ocean Service (NOAA) estimates concluded in 2014, that the ocean had risen 2.6 inches since 1993, and in 2019, the ocean continues to rise at a rate of an eighth of an inch per year. NOAA also says that the frequency of hurricanes and coastal storms are up around 300-900 percent since 1970. That statistic further shows how this is a human doing because rises like this are unheard of, of a natural phenomenon. This was evident in the recent hurricanes such as Hurricane Harvey that wreaked havoc in Houston, Texas. This especially scary because most large cities are located on the coast and according to the NOAA, 40% of Americans live in high populations areas near the coast. It is only a matter of time before the oceans start to rise faster and start to swallow low sea-level areas. Action needs to be taken to make sure that people aren't forced to leave their homes because of climate change.(https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/sealevel.html)
