Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Heating and how it affected my carbon foot print

KNicholasBOD8

When I was calculating my carbon footprint I learned that most of my carbon footprint came from the heating and hot water heater in my house which is using natural gas. This surprised me because we use an HVAC system which is very energy efficient so I thought this would be lower. Also for heating water, we don't use a water heater that has a tank we use a tankless water heater that only heats water when you turn on the hot water. But I also am wondering for the people that use electricity to heat there home and water how did it affect your footprint? On another note, I feel that there should be more options when calculating your footprint for different systems for a more accurate footprint.
