Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Personal Carbon FootPrint and How I can Reduce it
My total carbon footprint is 15,488, which is a considerably large number. However, there are two primary factors as to why this footprint is as high as it is. For me, these two factors are home energy/appliances (9,086) and transportation (5,792). My house is fueled by gasoline, which causes a large amount of carbon to be released. Additionally, my house has a lot of lights in, and newly installed on the outside of it. The quickest fix to this issue is turning off the lights when exiting a room or turning off the stove and oven when you are done cooking. Using the lights only when necessary and only in necessary places is important. As for my transportation, I live very far from my school and my sports club, so a good fix is to carpool with other members of the same club and school to save gasoline and emit less of a carbon footprint. https://www.c2es.org/content/reducing-y … footprint/.
That' s great man!
If you have any windows with blinds you could pull up the blinds for light in your house and maybe turn off all lights when everyone is in bed or talk to your parents about using a lot of gasoline.
My carbon footprint is high too.
It's all because of transportation. When you live in Tahiti and want to travel, you have around 8 hours to fly to the USA, or 6 to go to Australia.
Moreover we also can add the food, because in Tahiti we have the habit of eating a lot, especially a lot of meat.
To my mind, doing this type of survey makes me realize how bad my habits are, and what can be done to change them.
For example, trying to eat local and more vegetables rather than meat. Or try to do carpooling as often as possible.
Since I realised my carbon footprint is too high, I started considering things that I don't really need. For exemple I don't switch on the air conditioner all night long, I privilege the fan. I also charge my phone one in two.
In Tahiti we have the privilage of an tropical environment so we can easly plant a lot of letuces and fruits, so we might do it more often.
I think people should try to think about want they really need instead of about what they want.
I don't even want to mention my carbon footprint. My family works at an airline so I can fly anywhere anytime so that's what I tend to do. This year alone I flew 8 times and the year is still not over. Granted I can just not fly but I always take the opportunity to see my family when I can being that I am the only one in Florida. I can lower mine by just staying home. It also doesn't help that I have a big house and we always have the tv on in the background just as noise. I can easily just turn it off and keep going about my day.
I am the same, I have a lot of lights outside my house that all add up, and they are automatic so they are basically always on. Im going to check with the builders of my home to find out how to turn them off, because they really aren't necessary, when we aren't outside and we are in bed sleeping.
