Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

How can I decrease my Carbon Footprint

NPirrottaBOD7

My total carbon footprint is 17,440, which is a larger number according to the average. The primary factor as to why my footprint is as high is transportation (12,150). For my transportation, I travel a lot for sports, maybe one to two flights a season, plus any vacations I go on with my family. I drive about 20 miles to school every day, there and back. Also every day, I have practice another 20 miles, which I do carpool to. I was just wondering why my carbon footprint was so high, and what I can do to lower it.

My carbon footprint was about 12 000, and my only problem was transportation: travelling by plane... i think a solution could be that everybody should try to take the train, walk or take the bus more. There are a lot of solutions to prevent us from taking the car and the plane especially! How much pollution does the train create compared to the car though? big_smile
