Well this is mostly for America but if we had a transcontinental railroad that could connect poorer rural areas with richer areas we could make travel affordable and much more sustainable that planes. This would also have many societal benefits because it would allow people to get better educations that they would not traditionally be able to get based off of their geographical location.
