Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

What I will do as an adult

Meghan M.

Since I've already shared that my family's carbon footprint is very high, I decided that when I grow up and move out, I'll do so much that I couldn't do as a kid. For example, I'll live in a place where everything's close distance, I'll carpool if a distance I have to travel is too much, I'll eat meat around 3 or 4 times a week only, I'll go to a nearby church, I'll strictly recycle, and only pursue the extra curricular activity based on if it's near by or not. What I can do for now is to make sure I don't use energy that'll go to waste, I'll start taking shorter showers, and try to remember to recycle as much as I can.

My family and i eat a lot of meat, in particular chicken, pork and red meats. Why is eating red meat worse for the environment than chicken or other non red meats?
