Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused?

The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.

But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?

In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?

Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?

Aren't Greenhouse gasses natural?

Meghan M.

Yes greenhouse gasses are natural, and our planet actually needs it. Our planet needs greenhouse gasses because it traps in heat from the atmosphere which warm up the Earth. If there wasn't any greenhouse gasses, our planet would be too cold to live on. Now, there has been an increase of greenhouse gasses emitted in our atmosphere, that has been warming up the Earth too much. This was caused by humans. Humans have been the main culprits and have increased the amount of greenhouse gasses the atmosphere actually needs, by a lot. The damage done by humans have been seen through Global Warming, and what it has done to this planet. Global warming is the increase of temperature on this Earth caused by pollutants through the greenhouse effect. Effects include temperature rising, water shortages, heat waves, increased fire threats, intense storm damage, droughts, and these are just a few I can list on the top of my head.
