Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

Anne18

My carbon footprint is 7,728 kilograms a year. Compared to some people in France, (15920 kgs) I think the amount that I have is decent. One day though, I would like to have my footprint lower than it is now - I could probably do that from recycling more and turning off all of the lights when I walk out of the room. My advice for people that have a really high footprint is to just try your best to keep the earth healthy while ALSO keeping yourself healthy.

Usually it is easy to do both. Doing things like only purchasing sustainable foods will lead to a healthier diet as well as a healthier Earth. Also, limiting unnecessary purchases and supporting local businesses helps reduce transportation emissions of goods.
