Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

A solution can be to use our trash as a building block.

hubpr

I once saw a video that showed how we can crunch up big pieces of trash and then use the water bottles (plastic) to put all the smaller pieces of trash inside them. After that we use dirt and cement and use them as a building block.

That’s certainly potentially useful - do you know if that would help mitigate the methane that’s released in conventional waste management as well?

That is very smart. People are destroying the leftover trash/residue left over in our trash cans and re-using the trash to create a new resource made for the purpose of creating other objects.

^^^ Agreed...smart

alexa_carera

Oh thats genius!

julianaljarrah

Or we can melt the plastic and re-use it...?

sodeste

Some people would be against that just on the principle that trash is gross...while a good idea, it might not be very accepted

baxterk

Awesome idea
