Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon Footprint

abbielynne

My carbon footprint variables, although less than the average Pennsylvania citizen, were still unsatisfactorily high. For transportation, my value was 8,288 lbs, for home, 18,237 lbs, for food, 5,963 lbs, and for purchases, 1,190 lbs. I realize there are a lot of simple and easy steps I could be taking to reduce these variables, like always unplugging outlets when they aren't in use and investing in more organic and eco-friendly items. I plan on using my extra time to make the little things count!
