Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

A Computer's Carbon Footprint
Did you know that leaving a computer screen on all day for a year can add up to 1,000 kilowatts of electricity? We may not realize it, but simply leaving your computer with a screensaver still uses a huge amount of electricity! This link - http://www.reducingcarbonemissions.org/ … als#item13 - can help you find ways to reduce your computer's carbon footprint. Help out by turning off your computer at night, or switch your screensaver to "none" instead of a slideshow or design! This will affect your CO2 emission and make your home more eco-friendly.
Never thought about this topic before. I amazed by how much electricity you are capable of saving if you do one little thing. I bet it would also help if you have sensitive lights rather than automatic lights. I amazed because i think everyone has done this before are still doing it. Also image that you have more than one computer in the household, and how much electricity you are able to save by doing one small task.
I have never thought about this till now. This is just amazing how something in your everyday life can affect the atmosphere so much. Going to bring this to attention of my class mates and show them how they could also help with Global Warming.
This really surprises me. I usually leave my computer on for almost the whole day except when its time to go to bed. What you posted here makes me a little bit worried over how much I alone must be polluting the world with CO2 emissions. I a lot of times I just totally forget that I even have a computer and just leave it to run the whole day. What makes me shocked the most from this post is how other people in my family never even turn of their computer and just leave it to run until who know what.
This article has helped me think of different ways I can turn of my PC. It makes me think who much less my whole carbon footprint would be. I think that now because of this article I will not turn on my PC before I go to school. When I do in the morning I am tired and usually leave it to run the whole school day. This is the reason why I have a high carbon footprint. I would most likely forget to turn off my PC before I had read this post.
You all are very right, and it's something I forget often. I'm constantly on my computer due to school, and I never really think about turning it off. I have to charge it all night, because of how short the battery lasts, but I think I should start bringing my charger to school and charge it only when I need to. There's also some tips on [this website](http://www.ict-pulse.com/2011/04/5-ways … footprint/) that I didn't even think about. Like Bridie said, you should turn off your screensaver, and you can also monitor your energy consumption using certain websites. That's actually really interesting, and I had no clue you could do that! It'll definitely come in handy, because computer usage is probably one of the biggest problems with my carbon footprint, and my school may want to look into raising awareness about websites like these.
