Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Student footprint
My carbon footprint is lower than the average american due to the fact I shop almost exclusively secondhand. I also do not eat meat and tend to stray from dairy or eggs. Transportation is one of the largest contributing factors to my carbon footprint. Where I live, a smaller town in Florida, public transportation is not very accessible to me. Public Transportation in America was designed for big cities. So the average american has almost exclusively used a car to get to and from work or school. This is the case for my family and I, my college is 14 miles away from my house, I have to drive there twice a week. If I could use public transit I could cut out nearly 60 miles from my total driving time every week. Both my parents work 50 miles away from my house, they drive to work 4 or more times a week. This adds at least 400 miles round trip every week, this could be reduced if we had the option of public transit.
