Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

What are some ways that an average person can reduce their carbon footprint?

Some of the ways include some of the basics of turning off the lights behind you when you leave a room. Turn off the water when not using it. Some other ways are to use Light emitting diode (LED) light bulbs in all your rooms, you will see a decrease in your footprint and in the power bill. Other ways are to buy solar expensive but it will decrease your carbon footprint

Another way that you can reduce your Carbon Footprint is by having an energy audit on your house. While it is less common than the other methods, I still think it is worthwhile. Having an energy audit means that someone will inspect and analyze the energy flows of your building. The main purpose of having an energy audit is to reduce the amount of energy input into a building, while at the same time not negatively affecting the output. It is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint!

Some of the ideas to reduce the carbon footprint would be, when you brush your teeth and rub them, close the tap and do not leave it open.

Another of the many ways to reduce your carbon footprint is when you shower, when you gel, you close the tap and when you finish, you turn it on again.

A few ways to decrease the carbon footprint are to shut of things like lights and water when you aren’t using them, and putting LED light bulbs in your house. This will because your carbon footprint and your power bill.

A few different ways to decrease your carbon footprint would to be as simple as shutting your lights off or water off when you aren’t using them. On a bigger scale, you could find out where your food is coming from, and start looking for/eating more local and organic foods. Another way you could decrease your carbon footprint could try cutting down on the amount you and your family travel.

One way to reduce carbon footprint that is starting to be used but could really be pushed more is electric vehicles. Went I look at global data, travel seems to be the largest contributor to people’s footprint. Electric vehicles would greatly decrease these emissions, and could be a great addition to clean energy programs.

Canyon

One way that I am thinking of is shutting off things more when you leave your house.
