Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My footprint

marinaic

Hi everyone, my footprint is 3,327 kgs. I'm happy because is less than I thought. Although is true that this year we had the pandemic and we couldn't do a lot of things but it was good for the Earth. What was yours?

I was very surprised that my carbon footprint was 18,000. I feel like it could be lower, but with staying at home a lot due to the current pandemic my CO2 emissions at my house went up.

My Carbon footprint was a little more than 18,000. I was thinking it would be a little lower, but with a couple brothers and the amount of transportation we do from school to home, I understand why mine was so high.

Mine was just above 19000 and I am surprised because it doesn’t feel like I have done much but I think the reason it is that high is because my house is more on the big size and it takes more heating to heat it all so we leave the heating on for most of the year except summer.

I was also surprised about my about my carbon footprint which was just under 18000.  I think that this high number is due to traveling to see family and traveling to sports, but it also has to do with heating our house which we heat with oil a majority of the year.

Hi, I'm very happy with my footprint because I thought I would get much worse at home contaminated 2,380 kgs, in food 2.560 kgs, in shopping 134 kgs and with means of transport 103 kgs.

I'm very happy:)

I was also surprised with my carbon footprint that was a little under 18000. I had a high number because I traveled to family and sports, but I also use oil in my house to heat which probably brought my footprint up.

Canyon

My carbon footprint was roughly around 8,500

Well, some footprints were high but now we realized about it so we can do something to reduce it. For example, do not bathe, we could take a shower to reduce water consume and if it is short better, or turn off unnecessary lights.
