Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Lowering My Carbon Footprint + Encouraging Others To Attempt the Same

jsBOD

There are many ways, big and small, to try and lower my carbon footprint. While doing so, I'd love to encourage and inspire some of my friends and the people around me as well. Mainly, I desire to focus on lowering my Transportation and Food footprint. I had never realized how big of an impact my diet and my daily route had on the Earth, and ultimately, other people's lives. Personally, I consume a lot of meat in 2-4 meals and snacks each day. My first step towards minimizing my carbon footprint in the food category is to cut my meat consumption to 1 meal per day or about 5 meals per week. To substitute the protein, I can introduce more nuts, grains, and meat substitutes into my diet. To lower my Transportation Footprint, I would love to start biking to more places near me as an independent and COVID safe option. In addition, safely taking public transportation such as buses or partnered transportation such as carpool.
