Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Reducing My Foot print

erfoBOD

My carbon footprint was fairly bigger than the average in my area and I would like to change that. I have done the research and thought I would share how I plan on changing mine in the future. My main contributor to my carbon footprint was my Home footprint which includes how much electricity I use at my house and other home appliances. A great way to reduce this is to make sure to turn off any lights, electronics, water sources, heat sources, etc. that you are not currently using or needing. This can prevent unnecessary usage of electricity and other valuable resources. My second biggest contributor was food and waste. Living in a bigger household my family buys more food than normal, and even though we eat almost everything it still means a lot of food waste. Buying locally grown foods and or planting your own garden can help not waste so many useful resources.
