Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

I was shocked by the amount of carbon and waste is produced. Humans are big consumers. So much goes to waste and much more than we are aware of. I did some research and found this short video that briefly explains the idea of food waste. copy and past link into a new tab

The amount of packaging transporting impacts the earth dramatically.
here is an article that talks about the abundance of unnecessary packaging for food and other items. copy and paste this link into a new tab.

somethings we can do to use less plastic:
- bring your own bags to the store when purchasing things
- bring your own water bottle instead of buying them
- buy from local markets that use less transportation and packaging
- if you can, purchase more things from stores than online
