Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused?

The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.

But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?

In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?

Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?

Biggest Contributors to Climate Change & How to Help

Climate change is real and undeniable. Over the past few decades, greenhouse gas emissions have raised drastically. According to NASA, for millennia atmospheric carbon dioxide had never been above 300 ppm (parts per million). However, just in the past few decades, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have increased to 412 ppm and are continuing to raise.

According to EPA, the number one largest contributor to climate change is electricity and heat production, being 25% of the total global greenhouse gas emissions. The second largest contributor is agriculture, forestry, and other land use, being 24% of global greenhouse gas emissions and is mainly caused by agriculture and deforestation. The third largest contributor, being 21% of global greenhouse gas emissions, is the industry. Fourth, being 14% of greenhouse gas emissions, is transportation. Fifth is other energy, being 10% of greenhouse gas emissions, and sixth is buildings, being 6% of greenhouse gas emissions.

There are an infinite amount of ways for humans to start saving our planet. These methods include taking small steps such as sorting your trash and unplugging your electronic devices when they are finished charging. To have a larger impact on decreasing climate change, invest in energy-efficient appliances such as electric cars, or even walk and bike to different locations. Speaking up and using your voice is always a positive and encouraged option. Different ways of speaking up include reposting photos on social media, and attending protests/rallies.
