Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Reducing My footprint
My carbon footprint was pretty low in most areas except house. I was very surprised by this because we have solar panels. I think the reason it is so high is because we use a lot of gas heat in the colder months because my house has bad insulation and I get cold very easily. I think a way I can reduce this is by putting warmer clothes on when I get cold inside rather than turning up the heat. I also can have more blankets on my bed, and I can make sure all the windows and doors are closed when I turn on the heat.
After also calculating my family's carbon footprint I saw that my at-home footprint use was higher than I wanted it to be. what I noticed that took up so much of the footprint was leaving the lights on when they are not needed. This is a problem for our earth because the extra energy used to power up those lightbulbs are contributing to global warming and more pollution. I can try to reduce this energy by making sure that I turn off all the lights when I am leaving or done with them.
After reviewing my carbon footprint survey, I saw that the food category was way above average. Some ways to improve this are maybe having a few vegetarian meals a week if I don't want to commit to fully vegetarian or vegan. Also, my at-home water and electricity were high as well. I can improve on this by taking shorter showers, turning off lights when leaving a room, not washing or drying clothes when it's not needed.
